The Type II AGN-host galaxy connection

چکیده

We present a study of optically-selected Type II AGN at 0.5 < z 0.9 from the VIPERS and VVDS surveys, to investigate connection between activity physical properties their host galaxies. The stellar mass is estimated through spectral energy distribution fitting with CIGALE code, star formation rates are derived [OII]$\lambda$3727 $\r{A}$ line luminosity. find that 49% galaxies on or above main sequence (MS), 40% lie in sub-MS locus, 11% quiescent locus. Using [OIII]$\lambda$5007 luminosity as proxy power, we fixed power show bimodal behaviour: systems galaxy <10$^{10}$ M$_{\odot}$, reside along MS starbursts locus (high-SF AGN), while residing massive host-galaxies (>10$^{10}$ M$_{\odot}$) lower level (low-SF AGN). At all masses, offset positively correlated power. interpret this correlation evidence co-evolution host, possibly due availability cold gas. In most powerful below hint, though weak, asymmetry [OIII] profile, likely outflowing gas, consistent scenario which feedback removes available gas halts hosts.

The host galaxy / AGN connection in nearby early - type galaxies ⋆ . Is there a miniature radio - galaxy in every “ core ” galaxy ?

This is the second of a series of three papers exploring the connection between the multiwavelength properties of AGN in nearby early-type galaxies and the characteristics of their hosts. We selected two samples with 5 GHz VLA radio flux measurements down to 1 mJy, reaching levels of radio luminosity as low as 10 erg s. In Paper I we presented a study of the surface brightness profiles for the ...

The Agn/normal Galaxy Connection: Summary 1

The connection between normal and active galaxies is reviewed, by summarizing our progress on answering nine key questions. (1) Do all galaxies contain massive dark objects (MDOs)? (2) Are these MDOs actually supermassive black holes? (3) Why are the dark objects so dark? (4) Do all galaxies contain an Active Galactic Nucleus (AGN)? (5) Are the " dwarf AGN " really AGN? (6) Does AGN activity co...

Decomposition of AGN host galaxy images

We describe an algorithm to decompose deep images of Active Galactic Nuclei into host galaxy and nuclear components. Currently supported are three galaxy models: A de-Vaucouleurs spheroidal, an exponential disc, and a two-component disc+bulge model. Key features of the method are: (semi-)analytic representation of a possibly spatially variable point-spread function; full two-dimensional convolu...

Agn Host Galaxy Morphologies in Cosmos

We use HST/ACS images and a photometric catalog of the COSMOS field to analyze morphologies of the host galaxies of ∼400 AGN candidates at redshifts 0.3 < z < 1.0. We compare the AGN hosts with a sample of non-active galaxies drawn from the COSMOS field to match the magnitude and redshift distribution of the AGN hosts. We perform 2-D surface brightness modeling with GALFIT to yield host galaxy ...
